amazing find!

Well my little thoughtsicles... it's been a while but I'm back. Today's topic? Cute toy storage! I have been on the hunt for a toy box for Rupert's multitude of toys for sooooo long! But not just any toy box, one that would look super cute in our living room and not look toyish itself. Well the search is over. While perusing UsedNanaimo which is a very common occurrence for me... I found the cutest toy box! And for only $15!!!!!!! It needed a little bit of sprucing and I'm going to recover the the bench part, but I actually think I might use the same color fabric cuz it's cute! Anyways I am super happy with my find and am already picturing Rupert and his one day, (not in the near future!) sibling perched on it for some adorable photos!

It's new home!

Toy Storage plus cute seat by the window!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hole in one Mrs. Dyck, Hole in one!

inspiration journal...

Do you have one? An inspiration journal I mean... I have many. And all for different subjects! Gardening, interior decorating, fashion, hopes and dreams, faith, etc... I have binders and journals and books all full of photos, scribbles, notes etc strewn madly about our house. Today I have chosen some pages from my interior decorating inspiration journal. The pages are filled with pieces of furniture I love, colors I love and DIY projects that I absolutely love... cuz who has money to actually fill their house with all the items they see in a magazine? I'd much rather make my own! Anyways, my mom always said, the fun is in the planning... and I would have to agree with her. I have so much fun ripping pages out of magazines and then choosing what other pictures they would look good with to put in my journal. Here are a few excerpts...

I think I have color issues some time. I can never seem to pick one pallet that I really really love. I love them all and wish I could just mix them all together! These are a few of my faves. Also some DIY projects in their too.. including wall papered clip boards, jean/fabric pin cushions and framed photos that are framed on a manilla tag piece of paper with a plastic sheath over top! I also love love love love love built in book cases... maybe one day... ahem ahem Todd Smith.

Also thought I'd share some of my own DIY's that I have managed to get done amongst changing diapers, building blocks, playing trains and watching Curious George.

This first one is some old frames that I collected from around my house and my mom's house... and painted white. Haven't filled them all yet. I am thinking of newer family photos as a theme... and some close ups of our baby boy.

This spot is reserved... :D I have reserved this spot for another picture frame collage/vignette. The theme? Well I'm thinking wooden frames with an antique stain. And then as far as photos go... I have been raiding my mom's old photos of our family. I love old photos! I love the way they are usually tinged... like blue/green or yellow/brown. So vintage. So I will be scouring thrift stores for some good deals on old frames to fill this wide open space. The world is my oyster! Well that's it for now. We're off on a Vacation for two weeks! hoorah! toodles.

fashionista I am not.

Well here is my first foray into the creative inner workings of myself... Fashion. Oh how I love it. Everything about it... I love finding pieces that work with everything in your wardrobe, I love finding an amazing deal, I love buying a really expensive piece that lasts for years and years and throughout trends, I love reading about it, I love staring at my clothes and trying them on and creating different outfits, I love meeting people who make bold choices that I could never pull off. What is fashion if not art? Fashion designers are truly artists. And really so are we all, even those that claim not to care about fashion are still making choices of what to wear based on who they are and so clothing and fashion are small windows into who we are that we lay out for all to see. Seriously who knew fashion could be so deep?

Anyways, my first entry into the fashion part of this blog is the following... yes I know I am not front and center but really Rupert is so much cuter than I am! And I'm not super comfortable posing yet... I'm sure I'll get there but not yet. Anyways... my outfit. Not totally sure if dresses over pants is a major faux pas, but I refuse to stop doing it. I love the way dresses look over pants especially flowy ones that hide things that need to be hid after bearing children!

I love this outfit. It is comfortable and so summery and I absolutely love grey and pink together no matter what shade, they always seem to look good together. Perfect for a day at the beach.

Outfit detes: dress - Banana Republic c/o Value Village
pants - Calvin Klein c/o Winners
cardi - American Eagle
white tank - Walmart
flip flops - Aldo
sunnies - random mall kiosk

just for me...

hello all in bloggertonvilleshire... I have recently been coming to the conclusion that I need a place just for me. Maybe that's selfish... but well I haven't really had anything that is just for me in a while. You see just over a year ago, my darling son entered the world and five years before that I got married to my love. And whereas I would never ever trade either of them for the world... I am beginning to forget who I am outside of them. Who am I, you might ask? Well my name is Sarah and I have a lot of loves. I may use that word too freely sometimes, but in all seriousness that's how I feel. My biggest love is God. He is my rock. I also love love love my husband Colin and my precious baby boy Rupert. Friends and family are also a great source of love for me. And yes these characters will, I'm sure, show up throughout my blog... however I have a separate blog with the daily happenings and joys of our family.
This blog my dears is a place for my long lost creativity. For the passions that I have lurking deep beneath my diaper bag and scheduled calendar. This is a place for me to be a creative genius as well as a mommy and wife! Well maybe not genius... but gosh darn it I'm going to have fun...
What will you find here if not diapers and calendars???? Well my dears a bit of everything is to be found... my musings, photography, fashion, decorating, art... who knows what else! Mainly just things that I love. I don't know if anyone will care about the things that I love, and I may have zero followers but I am ok with that. Because this place is for me, however visitors are always welcome :D Post a comment if you found me.
